So many people profess the wonderous powers of keeping a journal/blog/etc. Why I've decided to join in the fun and make it a public journal rather than private (and why I've decided to blog at all) can be explained as such:
#1 I like attention/praise/recognition/whathaveyou. Now I know the wisdoms of our time dictate that we should "transcend the ego" and identify with less superficial gratifications. Well I tried - and guess what? I lose a lot of motivation/excitement if I don't get some sort of "pat on the back." I'm sure that ultimately my self worth and gratifications will mature over time, but something I've learned over the past 4 years is that you can't jump from a to z without reciting the rest of the alphabet. So I'll give myself a soap-box for now.
#2 Writing like I'm writing to an audience helps me convey and solidify what it is I'm trying to say. It makes me think carefully and explain myself in a way that most can understand, including myself.
#3 I do believe there is something about getting your thoughts out of your head and putting them on electronic paper. It creates space and, for whatever reason, promotes creativity (probably because it creates space to be....creative).
There are probably more reasons but I'm starting to lose steam.
Well, there you have it. My First bona fide blog. Thank you, and goodnight.
